Sainz hopeful for strong finish: "I am more confident and comfortable"
- Toby McLuskie
Carlos Sainz is coming off a victory in Great Britain and believes that a chance is there to claim a top finish again in Austria. However, the Spaniard will need to move up a few positions in the Sprint tomorrow as he qualified in Q3 today.
"This qualifying was strong and I was peaking at the right time in Q3," he told Billy Monger after the session, "I am definitely more confident and comfortable after the last few races."
Time to gain throughout qualifying as expected
The most recent F1 winner was questioned about whether he could've claimed pole for the Sprint, to which he explained that time is always there to be gained, but that's the case for every driver, stating: "When you look back, you can see some places where there could be time. We put in a good lap at the end of Q3 because the tyres were cold. I know where the lap time is but I wish I could have done it earlier."
He finished by explaining how he has a chance to move up the grid tomorrow and claim some more points, "I think starting P3 on the clean side there is a lot to play for."
