F1 Team updates | Red Bull, Ferrari and Mercedes update floor
- GPblog.com
Most teams have brought small upgrades to the track for the French Grand Prix. McLaren and AlphaTauri attract the most attention with a long list of updates, while Red Bull Racing and Ferrari, among others, have focused on upgrading the floor.
Red Bull upgrades floor
At the team of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez, there are only minor adjustments this weekend. The biggest change is at the edges of the floor. At first it was not sure if the update package would make it to the French Grand Prix. According to reports, not all updates would work at Red Bull. Currently the old floor is still fitted to Verstappen's RB18 without the updates that were introduced during the last Grand Prix. Sergio Perez has already fitted the new floor to his car. It's likely the team wants to make a comparison between the different floors, just like Ferrari. There is also a small adjustment to the rear brakes to improve downforce.

New floor for Ferrari
At Ferrari, the whole floor has been changed. On Thursday, it was reported that Charles Leclerc will test the new floor on Friday to see if the update brings what is expected. Carlos Sainz will drive with the old floor for now to make a good comparison.

Adjusted nose for Mercedes
Mercedes have updated the edge of the floor, but there is also a modified nose to reduce drag. The photo shows how the front wing has larger inlets to better cool the car. That will be necessary in the hot weather this weekend.

Big packages from McLaren and AlphaTauri
The McLaren and AlphaTauri teams have brought the biggest updates to Paul Ricard. McLaren has made adjustments to the side pods, engine cover, floor, rear wing and brakes. AlphaTauri has brought updates to the floor, engine cover and diffuser.

Haas without updates
Haas is once again the only team not to have provided updates this weekend. It was unlikely to do so, as the team will introduce its first update package during the Hungarian Grand Prix next week.
Most teams have also brought a different rear wing to the track. They do this because of the high speeds on the straights. Teams therefore choose a 'low-drag rear wing'.
