Constructors' standings: Red Bull ahead, Ferrari closing in on Mercedes
- GPblog.com
Red Bull Racing has increased its lead in the Constructors' Championship to almost 100 points over Ferrari. The Italian team in turn sees Mercedes closing in on them after their second consecutive double podium.
Red Bull pulls ahead again
Red Bull is doing good business in the Constructors' Championship, especially with Max Verstappen's win in Hungary. The win plus team-mate Sergio Perez's fifth place means Red Bull can take 35 points back to its home ground in Milton Keynes.
Ferrari, in turn, came no further than fourth and sixth places, bringing only 20 points. Mercedes scored well with a second and third place, add to that a point for fastest race lap from Lewis Hamilton and that puts the German team 34 extra points in the pocket after the Hungarian weekend. Mercedes' gap to Ferrari is now just 30 points.
Barely any changes in the midfield
Little else changes in the constructors' field. The eighth and ninth places of Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon bring the same number of points as Lando Norris' seventh place, so the difference between Alpine and McLaren remains four points. Aston Martin's tenth place from Sebastian Vettel is one point ahead of AlphaTauri.
