BMW strikes a blow by bringing in Audi bigwig

With the recruitment of René Rast, BMW has dealt a blow to Audi. Rast had great success with the other German brand, but will now become a factory driver for BMW.
Rast is a big name in the motorsport world. At 35, the man from Minden is no longer the youngest, but his most recent victory in the current DTM season shows that he is still very competitive. This year, the German is still racing for Audi on behalf of Team Abt, but that will change in 2023.
From Audi to BMW
The driver, who won three DTM titles with Audi, will switch to rival BMW in 2023. The brand's website mentions a collaboration between the two parties. It is not yet clear in which classes Rast will be competing. BMW also has several teams competing in the DTM, so that class is certainly not ruled out.
''After so many successful years at Audi, I am looking forward to a new challenge. I followed what has been going on at BMW M Motorsport in the past years and a long time ago, I took my first steps in motor racing in Formula BMW. Returning to BMW now, almost 20 years later, is a great story and a logical step for me'', Rast said in the press release.
