Verstappen respects Ferrari: 'Wouldn't have done it with Mercedes'.

A video of an interview with Max Verstappen has surfaced on Gino Rosato's Instagram channel. In that interview, the Red Bull Racing driver praises Ferrari.
Verstappen in a new duel
It's no secret that Verstappen and Red Bull Racing are happy to be fighting Ferrari and not Mercedes in 2022. The battle with the German racing team in 2021 was fierce on the track, but perhaps even fiercer off the track. Members of the various teams were always at each other, whereas this fight with Ferrari is very different.
''I prefer what we have now. I have known Charles (Leclerc) for a long time and he is a good guy. We are also of the same age, we are only a few weeks apart. We fight with Ferrari and when they win a race we can congratulate them and they do the same when we win. I really respect that,'' Verstappen said in Sky Italia's interview.
Respect for Ferrari
Verstappen also mentions his good relationship with Ferrari's staff. ''I have a good relationship with Mattia Binotto and also with Gino (Rosato, the Ferrari employee who posts this video). Even on Saturday night at Paul Ricard we could laugh together. On the track you want to beat each other, but outside you can just have fun together.''
Asked if Verstappen missed that in the 2021 duel with Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton, he has to laugh a little. ''Then I didn't sit down with them (Mercedes) on Saturday night. The click we have with Ferrari and just in general the respect I have for Ferrari is much better," Verstappen concludes.
