McLaren denies key press moment: Piastri must be patient for a while longer
- GPblog.com
There will be no special press moment to clarify the future of Oscar Piastri. There were rumours about that yesterday, but McLaren said in a statement to GPblog and others that this is not the case.
On Thursday, it was announced that McLaren had scheduled a press conference on Friday afternoon in Zandvoort. Many people's alarm bells went off: would there be clarity on the future of Piastri and the ruling of the Contract Recognition Board at that press conference? That appears not to be the case.
No clarity for Piastri
In a statement from McLaren, the team said the following on Friday morning: "We don’t have a specific press conference planned for today, however we will be hosting our regular open written media session at 14:45 today. This is a regular session that we host at every grand prix weekend."
So for now, there will still be no clarity on Piastri's future. On Monday Alpine, McLaren and Piastri met at the CRB to look at the contract situation, but since then no definite answer has been given.
