Max Verstappen will start from pole position at the Dutch Grand Prix on Sunday afternoon. Expectations for the race are high, but the reigning world champion hardly seems to feel any extra pressure.
Speaking to the NOS Verstappen said he is enjoying the atmosphere at his home race. He hopes to do well on Sunday afternoon, although he expects all the drivers to be close together. He names Mercedes as his biggest competitor for the podium.
With all the Dutch in the stands, there is a lot of extra pressure on Verstappen's shoulders, but the driver doesn't feel it himself. The Red Bull Racing driver believes that he has to get the best out of his car every race weekend.
"You can't do more than your best. That goes for every Grand Prix," Verstappen judged. "The nice thing is that you see a lot of orange here. If you are on pole, of course more people will cheer for you. So in the end that's only positive."
Exciting start during Dutch GP
It won't be easy for Verstappen to get through the first few laps. Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz are behind him, while teammate Sergio Perez starts from fifth. It promises to be an exciting battle.
