F1 boss fiercely argues: 'That's not true, nonsense'

The Formula 1 organisation is working hard behind the scenes to finalise next season's calendar. For a while it looked like the race weekend at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit would disappear, but in 2023 it will remain. However, the French Grand Prix will no longer be on display in the new year. According to Stefano Domenicali it is not just about money.
The Formula 1 boss stated in conversation with De Telegraaf that the motorsport class is in an excellent position at the moment. After last year's world title battle between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton, enthusiasm among Formula 1 viewers has only increased, which has led to several countries wanting to host a GP.
Domenicali does not agree with criticism
Formula 1 is often criticised for focusing on money, but Domenicali believes this is unfair. The Italian, who was team boss of Ferrari between 2008 and 2014, argues that money is indeed important, but that sometimes he also has to take tough measures.
"That's not true. Nonsense. Another easy thing to say," he said. "Of course money plays a role, isn't that true for everyone who has to live? It is always very easy to criticise on social media. I sometimes have to laugh a little bit about it, because there are a lot of untruths being proclaimed."
"You know, there are so many circuits that want to organise a race. But at the same time they don't know if they can pay the bill. The value of Formula 1 is very high at the moment, so as a Grand Prix you also have to have a good business model. I think we are on a very good course now."
