Leclerc focuses on final races: 'Now to take that step'

Charles Leclerc and Ferrari seem to have given up the ambition to take the title in 2022. Leclerc says he is focusing on the upcoming six races to improve his Sunday performances.
Despite an excellent start to the season, the Italian formation has had to resign itself to the fact that Max Verstappen and Red Bull Racing are still a size too big this year. In statements to the press in recent weeks, the team focuses mainly on the growth it has made in terms of performance. Winning the title is the next step to be taken.
Leclerc now wants to take the second step
Indeed, in terms of knitting together strong weekends, there is still much to improve for the Scuderia. Speaking to Sky Sports, Leclerc says: "It's an ongoing discussion [about strategy mistakes]. Of course we have been talking about it. but I won't disclose them. I would like to use the last six races of the season to focus on the way we execute our Sundays. This is super important going forward. We have done an incredible step forward in terms of performance. There is now another step forward in order for us to win the championship and we will focus on the last six races on exactly that."
Although the Monegasque no longer seems to be fully focused on the title for this year, a good result in Singapore would still keep the title fight against Max Verstappen alive. Leclerc thinks his Ferrari F1-75 is a good car for the Marina Bay Street Circuit, but Red Bull's step forward since the summer break is making him wary. Leclerc: " It's going to be difficult against them. Our focus is on the race. We always qualify strongly. Let's see if we can regain some performance this weekend."
