Qualifying for the Japanese Grand Prix was a winner for Max Verstappen. The margin towards Ferrari was very minimal, but enough to start from first place on the Suzuka circuit. That is still subject to change as Verstappen still has to go to the stewards because of a near-touché with Lando Norris.

Verstappen is world champion anyway if he wins the race on Sunday as well as setting the fastest lap of the day. Charles Leclerc, his nearest rival in the World Championship, will start from P2 and will try to make things as difficult as possible for his rival. He will be supported by Carlos Sainz, who will start from P3.

Behind, it is Sergio Perez who will also start from the second row of the grid. Looking in his mirrors, he will see Esteban Ocon and Lewis Hamilton. Fernando Alonso, George Russell, Sebastian Vettel and Lando Norris complete the top ten.
