With Nyck de Vries and Max Verstappen, Formula 1 will have two Dutchmen next season. Although De Vries understands that this is a milestone, the driver wants to focus on his own career. He told Sky Sports.

"I think that's not relevant," De Vries stated. "Today I am grateful for the chance and I am super excited to be on the grid next year. It's a competitive sport, as long as I do my job on the track then I will be able to continue to progress my career forward. That's all I'm focused on."

De Vries excited about opportunity at AlphaTauri

De Vries was finally able to say publicly on Saturday in Japan that he will make the move to AlphaTauri. While it had been clear behind the scenes for some time that the Dutch driver would be found in Formula 1 in 2023, it was waiting for the final details to be finalised.

"It was almost common knowledge in the paddock the past couple of days. But I am glad the news came out today. I am very grateful for the opportunity Red Bull given me, and thankful for Mercedes for everything they did me."
