Video: Huge crashes in final DTM weekend

While most eyes are on Formula 1 in Japan, the DTM is ready for the final weekend of the season. The first race of the weekend, at the Hockenheimring, on Saturday became one not to forget. In the negative sense of the word, that is.
Often the medics present at circuits (thankfully) have nothing to do. At Hockenheim, the medical centre was busy on Saturday. A total of six drivers were injured in several crashes. Thomas Preining, Clemens Schmid and Marius Zug were able to go again after a visit to the track doctor, Rolf Ineichen, Dennis Olsen and David Schumacher were taken to hospital.
Schumacher
The latter in particular had sustained substantial injuries from a huge crash, seen in the video from minute two onwards. Schumacher sustained bruises to his vertebrae and abrasions to his knees from that crash. Moreover, his car - and that of a lot of his colleagues - was so damaged that he will not be able to start Sunday's race 2 anyway.
The big hit by Schumacher, among others, was not the only one of the day. The race was marred by serious accidents. It remains to be seen who will all be able to start on Sunday for the final event of the DTM season.
