'Like Leclerc, Sainz will also take a grid penalty in Austin'
- GPblog.com
Multiple reports have already revealed that Charles Leclerc will take a grid penalty for the United States Grand Prix. It seems that teammate Carlos Sainz will also be put to the back in Sunday's race.
Several sources have reported that Leclerc will be hit by a grid penalty this weekend. The Monegasque would use his sixth engine and drive with a new internal combustion engine specification. He will be put back at least five places.
Ted Kravitz reveals during the Sky Sports broadcast that teammate Sainz will also take a grid penalty this coming weekend. It is not clear how many places the Spaniard will be put back. Ferrari has already had many problems with the reliability of its power unit this season. Leclerc and Sainz dropped out several times due to problems, and even in the closing stages of the season Ferrari still has to be careful.
Ferrari does not make things difficult for Red Bull
Red Bull Racing has a great chance of clinching the constructors' title in Austin. The team needs a 147-point lead to secure the title. With the likely grid penalties of Leclerc and Sainz, Ferrari may ensure an easy win for the team of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez. As long as the two men finish ahead of the Ferrari drivers, the title is for Red Bull anyway.
