Sargeant covered one lap too few in FP1 Mexico for point super licence
- GPblog.com
Logan Sargeant was allowed to take a seat in Alexander Albon's Williams during the first free practice for the Mexican Grand Prix. In it, he completed 22 laps, which amounted to 96 kilometres. However, there is one small problem: he should have driven 100 kilometres to get a point for his super licence.
Sargeant one lap short of point on super licence
The Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez is 4.304 kilometres long, which means Sargeant was just one lap short of earning an extra point for his super licence. According to the regulations, a driver must cover 100 kilometres during a first free practice session to get that point, but the upcoming Williams driver thus stuck to 96 kilometres.
Most likely, however, it will not depend on that missed point for Sargeant. All he needs is a top-five position in the final standings of the Formula 2 championship to secure himself the required number of points for his super licence. Currently, the American is third in the standings, behind world champion Felipe Drugovich and Theo Pourchaire.
