Mick Schumacher is likely to hear next week whether Haas will continue with him next season. There is a chance he may have to give up his seat to Nico Hulkenberg. In that case, the young German will have to look for an alternative. All seats are taken for 2023, so a reserve role with another team is the obvious choice.

According to German magazine Auto, Motor und Sport Schumacher is in the frame to become the new reserve driver and test driver. of Mercedes. There is a 'but' to this, though: Mercedes would choose Schumacher if Daniel Ricciardo decides not signs the offer to become the third man. Ricciardo is also in the picture at Red Bull Racing, his former team.

What is better?

Schumacher has not yet given up hope of a race seat at Haas. His first goal is to stay, although that is a decision out of his hands. The question is, however, what is better: a seat with a team at the back of the grid or (again) working for a top team, where he can learn a lot?

So Ricciardo is key here. The Australian has known for some time that a cockpit is not available for next year. He is in no hurry to decide what the next step in his career will be. This is not expected to be clear before Abu Dhabi.
