Sainz happy with P3: "It's a shame Mercedes was so fast"

Carlos Sainz finished third in an exhilarating Brazilian Grand Prix. The Ferrari driver is happy with the result, but bitter that he could not keep up with the pace of the Mercedes drivers.
"I think overall it was a good race. We did have some problems there at the start with the brakes on fire and we had to stop early, which meant we had to commit to a three-stop," Sainz said after the race.
P3 was the maximum for Sainz
Interlagos did not prove economical for the tyres, and as is often the case this season, Ferrari suffered from tyre degradation quite badly. However, Sainz proved to have a better pace than Sergio Perez and managed to outsmart the Red Bull Racing driver.
Sainz is satisfied with the result because there was no more in it, but he is bummed that Mercedes' pace could not be matched. "A good podium after starting P7, I think we can be happy with that. It's a shame that Mercedes was so quick, but congratulations to George." said the Ferrari driver.
