The Formula 1 paddock has bid farewell to Sebastian Vettel in emotional fashion. The four-time world champion is leaving motorsport's king class, but he says he will not be bored.

Unlike Fernando Alonso, Vettel does not seem to be keeping the door ajar. He is ready to embark on the next phase of his life, leaving F1 behind. Much attention was paid to the beloved German's departure, something he felt very honoured by. Afterwards, he celebrated his last race by making donuts on the straight in his Aston Martin.

Vettel enjoyed special farewell F1

"It's been special for me to have the farewell, enjoyed that. Had a great time across all these years. Was able to enjoy success, win championships. From a sporting point of view, it's been huge," Vettel explained to various media including GPblog.

At the same time, he has also been able to grow and mature in many ways. He talks about how happy he is still with his wife, with whom he has been together for many years and has three children. Vettel is therefore looking forward to spending more time with his family. "I look forward to spending more time at home with the dog, things that might sound really boring but I built it next to the racing," he continued.

What lies ahead for him, the four-time world champion does not know, but there are plenty of things that pique his interest. "I am restless in many ways, I am very interested in a lot of things so give those a little bit more room," said the retiring Vettel.
