Nothing has been officially announced yet, but rumours of Fred Vasseur's arrival at Ferrari are growing stronger. According to Sport1 the decision has already been made and Vasseur will actually succeed Mattia Binotto as team boss.
Have Ferrari decided?
The Italian racing stable are keeping their lips sealed for now, but according to the latest reports, it is already out. As has been suggested for some time, the choice will be Vasseur, who is currently team boss at Alfa Romeo. He will succeed the outgoing Binotto after he steps down on 31 December according to reports.
Earlier, Ferrari stated that they expected a successor to be chosen "in the new year", but according to Sport1, the announcement will come earlier. Before the end of the year, the Scuderia will announce Vasseur as Binotto's successor. It will then be up to the Frenchman to bring order within the Italian racing stable.
Vasseur, who began his Formula 1 career at Renault in 2016, would become Ferrari's fifth team boss since 2014. His predecessors Stefano Domenicali, Marco Mattiacci, Maurizio Arrivabene and Mattia Binotto all failed to bring about the desired results at the team. Binotto did manage to get the team back to the top, but did not intervene sufficiently last year when the team went wrong on several occasions.
