Lewis Hamilton has won the award for action of the year at the 2022 FIA Price Giving Gala. The Brit Awards thus took home an award after a disappointing season with Mercedes.
Every year, the FIA celebrates the most spectacular moments in motorsport. The FIA Action of the Year is the evening's only award that global fans can vote for. This year, several actions were again nominated from Formula 3, Rally Championships, Formula 1 and Formula E, among others.
Hamilton wins FIA action of the year
In 2022, Hamilton's overtaking move at Silverstone was named action of the year by the FIA and fans. There was considerable fighting for the podium places in the closing stages of the British Grand Prix, with the seven-time World Champion making a double overtake on Charles Leclerc and Sergio Perez. In the end, the Briton crossed the finish line third at his home circuit.
Formula 1 itself also chooses the best overtaking move every year on its official social media channels. Hamilton also managed to reach the final there, but fans voted for Sebastian Vettel's manoeuvre in Austin as overtake of the year.
