Jenson Button will compete in the 2023 Le Mans 24 Hours. He will do so in partnership with NASCAR Garage 56, along with NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson and Le Mans winner Mike Rockenfeller.

It will not be the first Le Mans participation for the 2009 Formula 1 world champion. In 2018, he shared SMP Racing's LMP1 car with drivers Mikhail Aleshin and Vitaly Petrov, but that participation ended in a retirement due to engine problems. In 2019, he would go for the retake, but that year he passed up the event because his wife - then still fiancée - was due to give birth to their first child.
Button has indicated on several occasions that he would like to have another go in 2023, and so that is what is going to happen. The former F1 driver will join NASCAR Garage 56's driver roster and will drive a modified version of the Next Gen Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. He will do so alongside seven-time NASCAR Cup champion Jimmie Johnson and Mike Rockenfeller, who won the 2010 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The prestigious endurance race is scheduled for 10 and 11 June 2023 and falls between the Grands Prix of Spain and Canada, so Formula 1 fans won't have to miss anything from the event.
