De Vries launches own clothing line: 'Creates a bond with my fans'
- GPblog.com
It is not an unknown phenomenon in Formula 1: drivers with a clothing line. The paddock is almost a catwalk at times. Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton have their own merchandise and now it is announced that AlphaTauri driver Nyck de Vries will also have that as well.
The Dutchman is supported in his project by Scotch & Soda founder Eric Bijlsma, his manager Guillaume Le Goff and his own sister, Seychelle, among others. De Vries says the latter recently quit her job and put all her dedication into the clothing line. He himself is not that involved as it turns out.
"I hardly get informed, get a little update now and then. She that does all that, and she does that wonderfully. Guillaume has already dropped words of praise about Seychelle several times, because she is doing a fantastic job. It's actually rather her little startup, I get involved very little," De Vries told Formula1.nl.
No model for profit
The Dutchman stresses that setting up a clothing line is not meant as a way to make profit. He thinks the project is important mainly because it creates a bond with his fans.
