De Vries thinks AlphaTauri is well on track: 'But all relative'

Nyck de Vries has prepared well for his debut season in Formula 1, he says in an interview with NOS. AlphaTauri is also in excellent shape, according to him, which means he is confident going to Bahrain to complete the test days.
The Dutchman is already enjoying himself at his new team. This is partly because of his bond with Yuki Tsunoda. The two men know each other from 2020, when they travelled to Monaco together with Max Verstappen. Since then, they always kept in touch.
"When he was driving Formula 2, I supported him," De Vries recalls fondly, before elaborating on his teammate's qualities. "We know each other well. He is a very fast driver, very talented and also an entertaining character."
De Vries hopeful with AlphaTauri
Although De Vries expects AlphaTauri to do well in the new season, for now it remains to be seen what the proportions actually are. Indeed, to the Outlet, he points out that it is difficult to estimate where the other teams are in the development of their cars.
"We think we are pretty well on track in that respect. On the other hand, it's all relative. If the rest have done a better job, it means we haven't done a good enough job. Time will have to tell."
