Russell: 'Really not going to abide by the FIA's silly regulations'
- GPblog.com
There has been a lot of fuss lately about the FIA's ban on political statements, subject to written consent. Many drivers spoke out about these new regulations, including George Russell.
Lewis Hamilton previously indicated he was not going to comply with the new regulations. In his view, Formula 1 should use its platform and show responsibility when it comes to important issues such as gay rights and diversity.
'Silly regulations'
Russell told GPblog, among others, that he does not agree with the FIA's plan either: "I am not too sure why the FIA took a stance like this. It's totally unnecessary in the sport and the world we live in at the moment. We are seeking clarification and I trust it will be resolved. I'd like to think it's been a big misunderstanding. But I'm not too sure. We are not going to limit our views or our thoughts because of some silly regulation. We are all here to have free speech and share whatever views we may have."
