Alpine on Thursday evening became the last team in Formula 1 to show the outside world what its car for the new season will look like. With the French formation's A523, Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon will hit the road as early as next week to complete three days of testing in Bahrain.
At the end of last season, Alpine said goodbye to Fernando Alonso, after which it had to look for a replacement. It soon found that with Gasly, who, together with compatriot Ocon, should ensure that the stable takes a step forward in 2023.
As a team, Alpine managed to perform excellently last calendar year. It proved able to keep McLaren behind it in the constructors' championship, finishing in fourth place. Only Red Bull Racing, Ferrari and Mercedes scored more points than Alpine.

Alpine hopeful about A523
Alpine will therefore want to work hard to at least match that result. The team is convinced that the A523, as the new car is called, is good enough to compete with the other teams. The coming weeks should reveal what Alpine is actually capable of this season.
