AlphaTauri could just be facing an uncertain future. According to Auto, Motor und Sport there are two options for the team: either it moves to England, or it is sold. There would be more than enough candidates for the latter option.

Future of AlphaTauri uncertain?

There are reportedly several interested parties to take over Red Bull Racing's sister team. These would be the potential new teams looking to join Formula 1. After all, buying an existing team is a much easier route to take than setting up an entirely new team.

Oliver Mintzlaff, the new director of investment and sport at Red Bull, would like to approach a few things differently. For instance, AlphaTauri is currently under a magnifying glass, as the team would cost too much money in its current structure. For instance, splitting the headquarters in Faenza and the aerodynamics team in Bicester would be inefficient.

One option would therefore be to move the team to England, where it would also be closer to Red Bull Racing. Another option would be to put the team up for sale. There are plenty of candidates for that, as at least three parties have already expressed a desire to enter F1 with their own team.

According to the German medium, not only Andretti Motorsport, but also Hitech GP and Mumbai Racing are said to have come forward as interested parties. Hitech is said to be the main candidate because of the existing connection between the Silverstone-based team and Red Bull. In recent years, for instance, Red Bull juniors Liam Lawson and Juri Vips, among others, drove for the Formula 2 team. In 2023, Red Bull junior driver Isack Hadjar will join the F2 team.
