Remarkable news: The F1 calendar is already more than full, but the chances of a second GP of Mexico arriving are quite high. The father of Red Bull Racing driver Sergio Perez has been working on it for three years and the major parties seem to have given him a green light for application.

Second Mexico GP in Cancun

Antonio Perez Garibay let it be known to the Mexican medium Esto.com. The conversation reveals that plans are already well advanced and that there is a plausible chance of a second Mexican Grand Prix. In mid-July, Perez expects to make the official application with his business partners: "The most important thing is that the FIA and F1 are already looking forward to the application. They have opened the doors for me."

Perez tried to bring the possible GP to Jalisco, the state in which Guadalajara is located where Perez's family is from. This was not possible; the race should be held in seaside resort Cancun. It is quite conceivable that it will then become a street circuit. Perez: "It will be the best GP in the world and in the history of the country."

Plans for GP Mexico widely publicised

Carlos Slim is also behind the project. The extremely wealthy Mexican is known for his sponsorship of motorsport worldwide and the sponsorship of Sergio Perez individually. Initially, the Grand Prix should have a place on the F1 calendar from 2025 to 2030.
