AMuS on Aston Martin: "Only the Red Bull has similar features"

The Aston Martin team made a dream start to 2023 at the Bahrain Grand Prix. After qualifying 17th and 19th last year, Fernando Alonso finished on the podium for the British team this year. That result was also on pure speed.
Reb Bull comparisons
Aston Martin's car, the AMR23, was the second-fastest in Bahrain in terms of race pace. Alonso repeatedly showed his satisfaction with the car over the onboard radio. Lance Stroll, who missed the winter test due to a fall from his bike, was also immediately fast in the British car. Besides speed, the AMR23's tyre wear was also very good.
Auto Motor und Sport analysed the British team's car and stated that its characteristics were similar to those of the RB19. "Almost no car swallows bumps as calmly as the AMR23. Almost no one is as stable on the brakes. Almost no one has such good traction. Understeer is not a problem. With few exceptions, the rear end sticks to the road. Only the Red Bull has similar characteristics," reports German AMuS.
New Aston Martin staff
The German motorsport site credits the many personnel transferring from top teams Mercedes and Red Bull Racing for Aston Martin's progression. "In 2021, seven Red Bull engineers switched to the green camp, including new technical director Dan Fallows and aerodynamicist Andrew Alessi. Former Mercedes chief aerodynamicist Eric Blandin and other Brackley-based engineers also joined."
