'Uncertainty over new F1 street race'
- GPblog.com
Following an earlier report that the FOM would be in talks about a possible new race in England's capital: London, sources told ESPN that these plans have not yet been discussed with Formula 1 itself.
Earlier this week, it was still said that Formula 1 cars would possibly drive through the docks east of the city of London, on a 5.9-kilometre circuit. Now it seems after new reports that those plans will not go ahead for now after all.
F1 race in London
So plans to use the Port of London as a street circuit appear to be off the table for now. However, there is still some time for possible negotiations; the first possible race that could take place at the new circuit would not be until 2026 at the earliest.
F1 boss Stefano Domenicali is known for his negotiations for possible new circuits; we saw the first race in Miami last year (2022) and this year Las Vegas will be added to that list. Whether London will also be among them in a few years' time is only speculation for now.
