McLaren casts its gaze at Jeddah circuit: 'Points are possible'
- GPblog.com
Next weekend the street circuit of Jeddah is on the programme. Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri will try to get their first points in Saudi Arabia. The two drivers look ahead to the upcoming weekend with team boss Andrea Stella.
The 27-turn middle-eastern circuit has worked out well for Lando Norris in the past. " I had a decent result here last year, and Bahrain showed we have some good race pace so a points finish is very much a possibility, we just need to extract as much as we can from the car," Norris reported in a McLaren press release.
Piastri and Stella hold up heads
For Oscar Piastri, this is his Jeddah debut at the highest level. He did race Formula 2 on the tarmac before. He knows the track and thus has experience of the top speed the drivers reach here. Piastri will want to wash away his disappointing race in Bahrain. "I learned a lot and it’s important we all keep our heads held high," he said.
Team boss Andrea Stella goes into this weekend feeling positive. " The team head to Saudi with renewed mindset and determination to get back into the points," Stella said. Whether McLaren will actually clinch the first points remains to be seen. Again, of course, he who does not dare does not win.
