Team boss Tost dissatisfied after FP1: 'I don't trust them anymore'

Nyck de Vries and Yuki Tsunoda secured spots 10 and 13 in the first free practice session in Saudi Arabia. Team boss Franz Tost is not entirely satisfied with AlphaTauri's current situation.
AlphaTauri team boss Tost's words are not encouraging, to say the least. When asked where it is all going wrong, he quickly throws out a list. "Not enough downforce. Therefore, the car is unstable under breaking, over hitting the rear tires, washing out at the apex, everything that you need to do a good lap time." the team boss said at the press conference after free practice.
During the winter break, Tost was told the car was up and running. "We made a big progress and then we come to Bahrain and we are nowhere," the team boss said. Tost also says he no longer trusts the Engineers. "The engineers telling me that we make some good progress, but I don't trust them anymore. I just want to see the lap time because this is the only thing which counts."
Satisfied with Nyck de Vries
There is still something else Tost can be satisfied with, though: Nyck de Vries! According to the team boss, he is adapting well and can keep up. Tost says De Vries is not in the very easiest position. "You know, if you are a young driver and you come in Formula one then it's even more difficult if the car causes troubles and it's easier with a competitive car to show good performance. And I'm convinced that Nyck will increase his performance and that he will show us good races." Tost said.
