De Vries responds to criticism Tost: 'We need to stick together as a team'

Nyck de Vries had to sit out the third free practice session for the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix due to engine problems. Speaking to Viaplay prior to that, he addressed AlphaTauri's performance on Friday, as well as the fierce statements made by team boss Franz Tost.
"I was very satisfied with our Friday," de Vries said of the first and second free practice sessions. "On the softs we still have to find something, because we were better on mediums and on hards. The balance was slightly better on those compounds. It's all super close."
De Vries on Tost's statements
AlphaTauri team boss Tost fiercely criticised the situation within the team on Friday, stating the engineers 'can no longer be trusted'. De Vries does not go that far; he stresses the importance of remaining united as a team. "Of course you always want to compete for points and race at the front as far as possible, it's just that it's very competitive," he explained.
"If you look at the midfield it's all within a few tenths and it can turn around very quickly, so there's little point in worrying myself about that. We can only stay together as a team as close as possible and do our best to fight for points," De Vries concluded.
