Former F1 driver and now F1 commentator Mark Surer blames the management at Williams for their recent downfall. He suggests they should have made decisions much earlier rather than watching events unfold. The team have only scored four points so far this season, with Sergey Sirotkin going pointless up to the summer break.

"Claire Williams is a very intelligent woman, but she has been watching too long, all the more in the area of the design department. Everyone has their own speciality there, but they blame themselves on the design error," said Surer from a podcast on Meinsportradio.

Paddy Lowe has taken much of the stick for the issues on the Williams. Surer, who made 82 starts in F1 between 1972 and 1986, expresses how he wishes he intervened earlier.

"I am disappointed that he has not intervened before. Lowe is someone who can work in great detail, but no doubt he was simply surprised by how bad the technical team is, the more in aerodynamics," added Surer.
