Although Mercedes' apology letter after the Bahrain Grand Prix suggests otherwise, George Russell says that after the team's disappointing 2023 season start, no fingers will be pointed to put the blame on someone.

Twice in a row, Mercedes starts the season badly. Mercedes is used to dominantly winning championships and at least being able to fight for them since the rise of Red Bull Racing. In 2022 and 2023, the team is behind and that is largely because the team went in the wrong development direction.

Russell contradicts Hamilton

Motorsportweek.com quotes the Briton: "But nobody is pointing fingers and blaming them for making decisions that were made with the best intentions and with the info we had." Team boss Toto Wolff has also admitted that the team is wrong with the current concept and that something is going to change in the philosophy of the W14.

Russell says the entire team is to blame for the disappointing performance and is partly drawing the blame himself: "“And we were aware of the concept, Lewis and I. And we did believe that this was the right direction. " Hamilton previously said just the opposite. According to the seven-time world champion, he had already raised the alarm, but the team did not listen to him.
