Fernando Alonso came through the chaos and finished on the podium for the third time in a row in the 2023 season. Alonso seems to see areas for improvement in qualifying and felt the final red flag in Melbourne was unnecessary.

Alonso found the red flag unnecessary

The Aston Martin driver reveals this to Viaplay's cameras. Alonso: "Today was difficult to understand. Maybe not crazy but it was confusing... but in the end P3 we take it" Alonso was not happy with the red flag: "This was not needed in my opinion. We don't know the facts, of course, only the FIA knows the parameters. We just have to trust it was needed, but for me it was just one car close to the wall. The safety car would have been enough"

Three times P3 in a row for Alonso shows how competitive he is in the Aston Martin: "We put pressure on Lewis to try to get P2, but he drove very well and made no mistakes throughout the race as the champion, which he is. We will take P3 and will try to qualify better next time."
