Pirelli with 'aggressive' tyre choice for Baku and Imola GPs
- GPblog.com
Pirelli has announced which tyres will be driven at the Grands Prix in Baku, Miami and Imola. For the first time this year, we will see the C5 tyre, the softest compound available, in action. Both Baku and Imola will feature this tyre.
In Azerbaijan and Italy, we will see the C3s, C4s and C5s, while in the United States, the C2s to C4s will be driven.
A sprint race is also scheduled at the Baku City Circuit for the first time. It remains to be seen what the format of the weekend will be. The new format being discussed is the addition of an extra qualifying session. This will make the sprint race more self-contained. On Friday, there will be qualifying before the race on Sunday. On Saturday, there will be a shorter qualifying session (though with Q1,Q2 and Q3) to determine how the sprint race will start.
