Toro Rosso 2019 driver line-up to be announced after Italian Grand Prix
Franz Tost has confirmed the driver line-up for Toro Rosso in 2019 will be announced after the Italian Grand Prix next weekend. It has been confirmed they will lose Pierre Gasly after the French driver signed for big brother Red Bull earlier in the week.
It remains unclear who they will bring in, or if Brendon Hartley will stay at the team. But first, Tost was full of praise for Gasly after getting promoted.
"He deserves it because his development has been unparalleled. He showed the fighting spirit and brought in strong results," the Toro Rosso boss said.
It looks unlikely that Dan Ticktum will get a call up as he is yet to reach the required number of super licence points in F3 this season. Other options lie with Jean-Eric Vergne and Sebastian Beumi. Both of whom would make their return to F1.
"Everything is possible", Tost concludes, "but we will only make a decision after Monza," he tells Speedweek.
