'If Hamilton doesn't win he acts like a little spoilt boy'

The difficult time that seven-time F1 champion Lewis Hamilton is currently experiencing in Formula 1 shows, according to some, how the top athlete really is. Former employee of McLaren, Ferrari, Tyrrell Racing and Benetton Formula, Joan Villadelprat calls Hamilton 'a whiner'.
Things are not going well for Hamilton. The Briton last won an F1 race more than five hundred days ago. The Mercedes driver has struggled against Red Bull Racing driver Max Verstappen since his seventh F1 title, with which he equalled Michael Schumacher in 2021. Mercedes went down the wrong road with the W13 and the W14 is not competitive either.
Hamilton gets critisied
To Spain's El Confidencial, Villadelprat's criticism is not mild. The Spaniard takes a dig at Hamilton: "Hamilton is fed up with it and if he doesn't win then he acts like a little boy; if he doesn't win, he destroys the toys. The tyres, the strategy, he doubts everything and he ruins it himself."
Villadelprat is not done with his account after this. More criticism of the Briton emerges, but also some understanding. Villadelprat was asked about the duel between Hamilton and teammate George Russell. The F1 analyst continued: "When you have a teammate who is faster, you normally keep quiet and keep your head down. I don't think he has lost it, but after seven titles... what motivates you then?"
The Spaniard answers his own question: "You want to win another one. You're not going to risk everything if you don't have the car. What is clear is that Hamilton is not the same as he was during his first or second championship."
