Mexican media reacts to Perez' recent win in Baku

The Mexican media is at Checo Perez's feet today, as the Mexican became the first driver to win multiple times at the Baku Street Circuit, which closed the gap to his teammate, Max Verstappen at the top of the standings.

Mexico City's news portal starts with nothing but praise for the Mexican driver. "Checo Pérez is the king of Baku and conquers the 2023 Azerbaijan Grand Prix". The capital city's online journal further adds that "the Mexican beat Max Verstappen with authority to win his second race of the season."

The Mexican edition of the global news portal does not hide their satisfaction. "Sergio Pérez achieved his 6th win in Formula 1 by winning the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, in a new chapter of why he is known as "The King of the Street Circuits". They also commended the performance. "Perez's performance this Sunday in Baku has been one of the most solid of his career and he showed once again that this street course really does suit him wonderfully, on a Sunday when he didn't even let Max Verstappen pressure him."

They don't forget to mention the fact that the Mexican lead his teammate, the double world champion Max Verstappen, home. Another reputable online news portal points its attention to the championship standings. "Checo's victory in Baku has narrowed down the gap to Max Verstappen to only six points". The news outlet further states that "at the top, Checo Perez, has narrowed the gap between himself and Max Verstappen. At the end of yesterday's sprint race the point difference was of 13. After the 51 laps raced this Sunday, the Miami Grand Prix will find both drivers to be separated by 6 points".
