Fresh from qualifying third and finishing sixth in Belgium, Esteban Ocon believes that his Racing Point Force India car will suit the high-speed nature of the Monza circuit at this weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix.

The Frenchman finished sixth last season in his incredible first season with Force India, where he scored points in all but two races.

Ocon now has the added pressure of showing how good he is to other teams, with Lance Stroll looking set to take his seat at Force India for the 2019 season.

Ocon will turn 22 next month, so has a long career ahead of him, but his F1 journey will surely take a hit if he does not secure a competitive seat for 2019.

His options look bleak, with McLaren probably his best option, compared with the potential of joining struggling Williams.

Despite this, Ocon is still concentrating on the job in hand, and believes that the Italian Grand Prix will be a good one for him and the team.

He said: “We achieve some incredible speeds along the straights and I think the layout is going to suit our package.

“Last year I had a special race there: I was third on the grid and finished sixth, so I hope we can be in the points again this year.”
