Statement AlphaTauri after Faenza storm: 'Thoughts go out to them'
- GPblog.com
The Emilia-Romagna region has been experiencing severe weather for the past two days. It has been raining for about 48 hours straight and many areas have been completely flooded. AlphaTauri is based in Faenza and the situation there is also quite serious.
There were already several casualties in northern Italy due to heavy rains and associated flooding. Two people were already killed near Faenza, AlphaTauri reported in a statement on Twitter. Employees of the F1 team and their families have also been affected.
The Italian formation announced ahead of the Grand Prix weekend in Miami: "The city of Faenza, which is home to our Scuderia AlphaTauri factory, and other parts of the Emilia-Romagna region have been hit by a violent rain storm. It has produced heavy flooding, leading to the loss of two lives in the region, as well as causing severe damage to parts of Faenza and surrounding areas. It has also affected some of our employees and, at this difficult time, our thoughts are with them and with everyone affected."
