Race pace and long run data
After four Grands Prix in 2023, it is clear that Red Bull Racing has built the best race car with the RB19. Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez won the first races of the season and often by a wide margin. The competition have been left to fight against each other. Yet at Red Bull, they continue to speak of a marathon season and point to competitors' updates.
In Miami, it is therefore once again a case of paying close attention during the second free practice session. In this session, the F1 teams collect a lot of data on qualifying and longrun pace. Mercedes, Ferrari and Aston Martin will once again be battling for the final place on the podium. Last weekend, Ferrari and Charles Leclerc had really strong single lap pace and therefore secured both pole positions. Lewis Hamilton and George Russell will hope their Mercedes car can continue to be stronger whilst Fernando Alonso is hoping to return to the front after Baku didn't suit his car.
