AlphaTauri team boss: 'Engineer I no longer trusted no longer works for us'

AlphaTauri had hoped to get off to a better start this year after a disappointing 2022, but it hasn't really succeeded yet. In fact, the situation was so critical that it was decided to reorganise. Franz Tost let it be known at the press conference in Miami that the "person he no longer trusted" has now been shown the door.
Two months ago, Tost said he was extremely disappointed with the competitiveness of the AT04. In Bahrain, the gap with the competition was huge, whereas AlphaTauri's engineers had informed the team boss that good progress had been made.
During the winter months, Tost was told by his men that the car was fantastic, but the season opener at the Bahrain International Circuit showed little or nothing of that. The 67-year-old Austrian subsequently said he no longer trusted his engineers.

In Miami, Tost was asked whether confidence is still so fragile. This was followed by the following answer: "The person I didn't trust anymore is out, as you can imagine. And the others I trust, totally easy. And they do a good job.”
AlphaTauri currently occupies ninth place in the constructors' championship. The Faenza-based racing stable scored two points in four GPs thanks to two tenth-place finishes from Yuki Tsunoda. Only Williams did even less well. They scored one point through Alexander Albon in Bahrain.
