Lewis Hamilton is hoping the weather gods can save his Grand Prix weekend in Miami. The weekend has been particularly difficult so far for the Mercedes driver, who has now pinned his hopes on the weather forecast for Sunday.

Hamilton hopes for rain in Miami GP

The Mercedes driver failed to reach Q3 and will start the race from 13th place. As a result, he has to hope that unpredictable factors will play a role in the Miami GP. "Hoping that the Florida heavens are going to open and we’re going to have some rain," Hamilton is quoted as saying by Racer.com.

"I don’t know how lucky I’ll be, but the rain would make it exciting," he continued. However, due to the shortened DRS zone, Hamilton suspects overtaking will be more difficult than before, as was the case during the race in Baku. "It’s not going to be easy to overtake the cars ahead of me but maybe on strategy I can progress, try and get in the top 10 and get some points."

Hamilton's prayers might just be answered, as after heavy rain on Saturday night, it rained again in the morning. The chance of rain also remains before and during the race. Moreover, the rainfall washed away all grip from the track, where the lack of grip was a problem for F1 drivers throughout the weekend.
