Departing Tost will miss F1: 'I love Formula One'
- GPblog.com
For no less than eighteen seasons, Franz Tost was at the helm of Toro Rosso and later AlphaTauri. The Austrian saw a lot of drivers come and go and was instrumental in the success of Max Verstappen and Sebastian Vettel. Tost recently announced that he will leave Formula 1 behind.
After Tost (67) announced he was leaving the team after this season, his fellow team bosses, including Toto Wolff and Christian Horner, already let it be known that they were going to miss Tost. They are probably not the only ones in this, given Tost's many close contacts during his time as team boss. Although the Austrian himself does not seem so convinced of that.
An oldlife crisis instead of a midlife crisis?
Speaking at a press conference in Miami, he said: "I don't know whether the sport misses." He added: "I will, of course, miss Formula One. I love Formula One." With that, Tost was not saying that he was already looking for a comeback, for example, Helmut Marko's job. His compatriot is already 80 years old and will at some point step down as Red Bull Racing's advisor.
So what will Tost do with his considerable free time? "But you never know, maybe I go karting or maybe I will start once more racing. You never know when you get old. Old life crisis instead of a midlife crisis at my age. Whatever will come into my head, but it will not be boring, believe me.," Tost laughed.
