Situation at Imola not improving: no staff allowed for now
Last night it rained heavily at the circuit in Imola. A Motorsport.com journalist now reports that the staff of the teams and Formula 1 itself are currently not allowed on the circuit. This is causing a lot of problems.
Weather conditions have been bad in recent weeks in the region where the Imola circuit is located. On Tuesday, the circuit was evacuated, and today too, no personnel will be admitted for the time being.
This adds to the problems, as an event like a Grand Prix requires a lot of preparation. At the moment, the construction of the garages and catering facilities, among others, is lagging behind. Another problem is, the garages cannot currently be checked for water problems.
Formula 2 paddock badly affected
In addition, another Motorsport.com journalist reports that the entire Formula 2 paddock has been flooded. This is because it is in a different location from the Formula 1 paddock. This again creates additional problems. For now, we wait and see, but for all updates on the situation in Imola, please visit our liveblog.
