Lewis Hamilton has still not signed a contract for next season. The 38-year-old Mercedes driver's contract expires after this season. However, Toto Wolff is confident that a deal will be reached between the two parties.
After the second year in a row in which Hamilton has had to make do with an inferior Mercedes, rumours are now circulating that the Brit could be in talks with Ferrari for a seat at the Scuderia. The seven-time World Champion is looking for his record-breaking eighth title. For now, it seems this is going to be very difficult at Mercedes, and so the driver would like to see if he could secure the record with another team.
'Am convinced we will reach agreement'
However, according to Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff, nothing is true of the rumours, and he himself is confident of a new deal between the German racing stable and Hamilton, he told oe24: "These rumours surface every two years when we have to make a new contract. But none of this is true. We discuss normally, without any time pressure. I am firmly convinced that we will find our way together, there is no doubt in my mind."
Despite these words from Wolff last week, rumours did emerge on Monday that Hamilton would be in talks with Ferrari. The Scuderia is said to have made a mega offer to the Mercedes driver. So for now, it is not certain where the 38-year-old driver will drive next year.
