Verstappen on gap to Perez: 'I'm not so concerned with that'
- Ludo van Denderen
Max Verstappen was the best in Monaco, while teammate Sergio Perez continued to sit towards the rear. This allowed the Dutchman to further extend his lead over the Mexican to 39 points. It is still early in the season, but the world title has taken a big hit.
At Viaplay, Verstappen responded to this fact: "I am not so concerned with that. It doesn't run perfectly every weekend, but we have to take points every weekend in general."
'Glad it was over'
It was a tough race for Verstappen due to the late rain: "I was glad it was over in the end, though. It was very hectic. Firstly, because we didn't want to drive on those mediums for so long, but we had to. The rain was coming, and Fernando was driving on the hard tyres. We had to wait for the rain or for him to come in. It was difficult to manage that pace though. There was graining, but at some point, I could drive through that, and they became cleaner again. Speed was pretty okay then. Drove twice as many laps on that tyre as we wanted to do," the reigning champion said.
