Lammers on Verstappen quitting: 'It wouldn't be crazy'
- Cas van de Kleut
Max Verstappen's career is on a roll. Last weekend, the Dutchman managed to win the Monaco Grand Prix, putting him well ahead in the championship. In 2028, the Red Bull driver runs out of his contract, and then it remains to be seen what he will do. Jan Lammers would not find it crazy if the two-time world champion decided to quit.
Verstappen currently looks set to break a lot of records. He keeps moving up the list of drivers with the most wins, and this year it looks like the Dutchman will take his third world title. This weekend, the two-time world champion managed to hold the record for most wins for Red Bull Racing.
'Think it's getting harder'
Yet Verstappen has spoken out many times about the possibility that he may well leave Formula 1 after his contract expires. According to Jan Lammers, that wouldn't even be a very strange decision, the former Formula 1 driver told the NOS Formula 1 podcast: "I think it's going to be increasingly difficult for Verstappen, because at 25 he's just an absolute veteran. He has been driving very intensively for 20 years. There are many people who think he will stop, but it's not that crazy, because others only start karting at 10 or 11."
