Mick Schumacher returns to Formula One car for first time since exit
- Cas van de Kleut
Mick Schumacher will take his first seat in the W14 next Wednesday, Bild reported. The son of seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher has been a reserve driver for Mercedes since this year, and will be allowed to do a Pirelli tyre test at the Barcelona circuit next Wednesday.
The 24-year-old Schumacher drove for the Haas team last year. In 2022, the German scored several points, but after costly crashes and disappointing results, he was replaced by his compatriot Nico Hulkenberg.
Return to track
Meanwhile, the former Formula 2 champion is a reserve driver at Mercedes, doing mostly simulation work. While the Barcelona Grand Prix is still being run this weekend, Schumacher will make his first metres in the Mercedes next week. So this will be a tyre test for Pirelli. George Russell will also be testing the Pirelli tyres, but he will test them on tuesday.
