De Vries predicts Spanish Grand Prix: 'Lots of degradation to tyres'
Nyck de Vries was already doing much better in Monaco than in previous Grands Prix this season. The Dutchman seems to have taken that form with him to the Spanish country. Near Barcelona, the AlphaTauri driver set good times. He starts the race from 14th place. During a press briefing with GPblog and others, De Vries looks ahead.
"I'm not sure if it's going to rain or not, it will be a long race with degradation, potentially drizzling and rain so I don't know, we just have to keep it clean and take the opportunities when they come," said the 28-year-old driver.
De Vries on his car
De Vries recently received a warning from Helmut Marko. So the driver's performance should really start improving slowly. This was already the case in Monaco, Marko himself stressed. During the first two free practice sessions in Spain, De Vries had some trouble with his left front. Did the driver also suffer from the left rear of the car?
"Less so I think, even in the wet this morning on the Inters the left front was suffering big time so I still think that's the main limiting axle for tomorrow," reported the AlphaTauri driver.
